Opening a new season of events for our great patrons.

Why Human Library and what's that?

The idea started in Denmark and it took off very well. People becoming living books and share their knowledge and experience with others, during a one to one casual chat. Finally you can ask "your book" a question, and it will get answered.

October is a international anti-bullying/RUOK/well-being month. That's why we would like to present you our anti cyber bullying strategies and (unfortunate) experiences. You will have a chance to listen, ask questions, and arm yourself with knowledge and ways to stomp those bullies out. Our human books will help you in the process.

We will welcome six "Books":

 1/ Your local social worker 🙋

2/ A school counsellor 🧘

3/ A young survivor of cyberbullying 💪

4/ Local police force representative 👮

5/ First People represantative 🧔

6/ A former bully 🥺

You will have a 15 minutes to interview your book of choice, there will be also a presentation and discussion, along with light refreshments.

Post 11: Engagement, libraries. BLOG and FACEBOOK

 For all the hassle of modern life, we need to reach each other in more creative ways then ever before. But trying to catch too many birds by their tails, that can't be good. We need to chose wisely. 

A word of advice, it is good to chose something quick and simple, and popular by many - hence Facebook. That will be a substitute of flyers, advertisement, short messages, shout outs, and feedback. A way to get fast answers and check up with all that's going on. 

Then, for deep dive, there should be something to incite, to draw others in, to tickle their imagination. Here comes the blog. With recommendations, with deeper interactions, with space to reflect and ponder, to take time to chose, to weigh many options. To feel at home with others alike.

Last movie I watched was "Bridge to Terrabithia", I actually forced my kids to watch and they loved it. Although it is sad at the end and I always cry at one point. But that's what happens with great movies.

Still stand by my opinion. In the same lines, there's a movie "A Monster called" (if I remember well). It deals with pain of letting to, death of a loved one, growing and feeling inadequate, lost and alone. 

As of series that caught my attention lately, it is Netflix Canadian production "Can you hear me?". I am still with those people, even after finishing watching, feeling for them, wondering and missing them a bit. 

Post 9, layout, arrangement, design

 Not much to change, to be honest. Like it as it is. Only small thing was to add "contact form gadget" as Mrs. Blogger. 
Otherwise, as a tentative first steps into virtual world, that comes quite as nice as hoped for. 

Post 8, colour, design

 Changes are good, changes are refreshing, changes are playful... 

The one I chose speak of spring, new hope, life's enjoyment. They speak of lightness, curiosity and new adventures. What else do we need in life? Well, that's another story.

Post 6, Libraries, Kogarah library, Blog, Facebook, Youtube

 Kogarah Library has a quite strong presence in social media. 

First of all, the omnipresent Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GeorgesRiverLibraries/  where there's almost 2000 followers, and the content is really interesting and up to date. All author talks, story times, presentation on the various topics are here, along with contact details and other essential info.

Interesting place is the Biblio Blog  https://georgesriverreads.blog/  managed by a bibliosquad. Two main sections are Read, and Project. Read consists of online author talks, reading lists, recommendations and reviews, Project contains diaries subdivision, code club and after school book club. That is a very appealing little virtual corner to hang out. 

There's also a YouTube channel  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp_nk4Fv5DUBkViWtrSL8RA although it looks quite new, or much unused. Very few subscribers, even less views of 5 quick movies. To be checked in later time, if still interested. 

All looks pretty basics, but that is still a work in progress and unless there is a wide and strong interest, there's no need to overdo - that would be counter productive, to say the least.
